The current issue of The New Yorker has a large advertisement from a gallery in New York City showing a very Maine scene painted by Marsden Hartley. Seems it’s there due to the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s special exhibit ending soon.
If you miss it there, it’s moving up to Colby College in Maine.
Open the video or explore Hartley online someplace else – and tell me I should start painting again soon. If only I knew how! (I dab in watercolors.)
North Haven has a good share of artists always, now, in the past, and in the future to be sure. If you visit or live here, you’re sure to meet some and be inspired.
I’m still searching to learn if Hartley was ever over this way – he painted on Vinalhaven (second painting below).
Sometimes we think any Cookie Tree Farm view is a painting – as most North Haven dwellers might agree. Today on our walk we saw an eagle, a robin, and well…all the green, very green!
